In Other News

It’s so great to be back! Thank goodness for Jessica, who was writing all the reviews while I was gone!  You may have noticed that we moved domains; more on that tomorrow.

BookShelfery has it’s own Goodreads profile!  Make sure you friend us!  We did this so we could use the UBB Goodreads plugin, which so far rocks.  We’re going through old reviews and clicking the button.  Could take awhile…

Also, our Tips page on how to center images side-by-side in WordPress has been updated.

It’s The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

Well, per the retailers, that started in June.  I was in a Hobby Lobby early in the summer and they were already putting Christmas stuff out!  But now it really is that time of year which means, the Ho Ho Ho Readathon is back, and by popular demand!  Grab you warm cup of delicious, some holiday reads and cozy up from November 6 – 11 and maybe win a great prize, too!  Click the button for sign-ups.

Book News You Can Use

I would be remiss if I didn’t bring this up here, even though I did talk about it on the blog’s Facebook Page, but some authors have absolutely no consideration or graciousness for the readers who keep their books on the shelves and money flowing into their pockets.  In this case, on September 3rd, Chelsea Cain, author of ONE KICK (released August 2014), became fed up with excited readers asking her about the order of book series, for help with their e-readers, and other perhaps asinine, but benign questions.  These were her responses:

Authors are people, too.  But as public figures, they do have an obligation to their readers – or perhaps we should call them their customers – to treat them kindly as they would if they were a shop owner depending on them for business.  As much as I applaud writers who write for the love of the written word, I also understand that being a published author means you are your own business.  And that means treating your readers as customers.

Perhaps now that I’m reading Outlander, Steph will let me sit at the cool kids table?

Have a great week, peeps!

The following two tabs change content below.
Jennifer is both a book nerd and professional photographer. That means she lives in the fantasy world all the time, whether of her making, or someone else's. She collects books like the Duggar family collects kids, and began waiting for her Hogwarts letter at the tender age of 33.

Gah that Chelsea Cain mess was ridiculous. I’m mad that she deleted the post per her publisher’s request then came back and posted the SAME thing. Great books this week and good luck with the move! Amber Elise @ Du Livre

    • Exactly! I was like, why did you even bother. She is crazy. Then there was ANOTHER author on 9/7 that was posting racially charged crap to her FB profile…it was pretty awful. And her only excuse was “I lost someone in 9/11”. If you can guess, her posts were about muslims. Pass. Added to the DNR.
