Don’t you love getting surprises in the mail? This one was a total surprise, because I had completely forgotten that I had subscribed! As much as I have loved OwlCrate, I wanted to try something else, just to compare. Uppercase Box is similar – it is a monthly subscription that contains a brand new YA book that is signed by the author, as well as 1-2 “high-quality, exclusive, and custom bookish items”. It also comes with a handwritten note, and a bookmark with codes for exclusive content. Are you ready to experience the April Uppercase Box? All of the items come in this cute little bag. It really felt like I was opening a gift. Let’s start with the book: Scarlett Epstein Hates It Here by Anna Breslaw. I had heard of this one, but didn’t know much about it. It sounds like a fun read, and while it’s probably not something I would have sought out, it seems like something I would enjoy. The book is signed by the author and there were some cute stickers to go along with it. The first “extra” item was Hagrid & Buckbeak bookmarks from BeedooTO (estimated value: $7.00). They are adorable, and an Uppercase exclusive. As a huge HP fan, I absolutely love these. Next up, another item that makes my heart happy: a Magic Notebook from Literary Emporium (estimated value: $5.95). There was also a Harry Potter quote poster from Risa Rodil (also an Uppercase exclusive), and an “I read YA” pin to commemorate #IReadYA week in May. Overall, I was very pleased with this box. Three Harry Potter items pretty much guaranteed a win for me! At $26 (+ shipping), this box is slightly cheaper than OwlCrate, but I feel like I get more with OwlCrate. Don’t get me wrong, though, I felt like I got my money’s worth from this box. Uppercase also has an option to do a “book exclusive” plan and forego the extra items (although, let’s be honest, the extra items are a big reason why I subscribe!) for $17. For now, I plan to continue my Uppercase subscription, and I look forward to more surprises in the mail! *Disclaimer: I purchased this subscription box, and did not receive any compensation for my review.
