After two months of duplicate books in my Uppercase Box and OwlCrate, I was a little anxious to get the August boxes. Surely this month wouldn’t be another duplicate, right? Uppercase always arrives first, and it includes a newly released YA book that has been signed by the author, 1-2 bookish items that are often exclusives to the box, as well as a bookmark with codes for extra content (questions, polls, videos, etc). Each box also comes with a handwritten note explaining why that book was chosen. The cost is $23 + shipping. Now, let’s check out the August box! The first item is possibly my favorite thing that I’ve received from Uppercase. It’s a Once Upon a Time necklace, and it’s an Uppercase exclusive (it even has the Uppercase logo). I have no idea what this would retail for, but I love it! I was able to wear it to a play the night that it arrived. Perfect timing! The next item was another exclusive, a “Bookish Thoughts” notepad designed by Simini Blocker. Again, no idea what the retail value would be, since there aren’t any notepads available in her shop. It’s cute, and even though I have a bunch of them, I love notepads, notebooks, sticky notes, etc. Anything that can be written on!
Next up was a print with a quote from the book. Nothing revolutionary, but it’s a cute quote and may be more meaningful once I read the book.
And the book is….P.S. I Like You by Kasie West. Not my usual genre, but I admit, it sounds cute. And I have read Pivot Point and Split Second by the author, and I really liked both, so that makes me more willing to give this one a chance. And maybe a sweet, romantic read is the perfect remedy for the end-of-summer blues.
Bonus: A few days after I received my Uppercase Box, I received another package from them containing an item to make up for the previous duplicate. They offered a refund on half of the price of the book, or an extra bookish item. I chose the item, and I’m so happy that I did! I got a pair of Golden Snitch earrings from Juniper and Ivy Designs. I love these!
Now, the million dollar question. Will the August OwlCrate bring a duplicate for the third month in a row? Tune in tomorrow to find out! Disclaimer: I am in no way compensated for my subscription box reviews. I purchase the boxes and am not affiliated with the companies (other than being a big, big fan).
