Movie Review

STOP!  THIS IS AN EPICLY SPOILERY REVIEW.  DO NOT READ THIS REVIEW IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THE MOVIE.  YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

I have allowed myself two days to reflect on my thoughts and feelings on this movie.  I find myself sitting here staring at the computer screen with such “writers block,” it isn’t even funny.  I must have written this review in my head a thousand times the past two days and here I am looking at the blank screen with nothing to say.  I mean you’ve seen it!  It was amazing!! But amazing is such a weak word compared to what that movie was. I am having such a hard time trying to explain the epicness of this movie. How do you translate it to words?? It is everything this movie was supposed to be.  How I reacted to the movie is how I reacted to the book.  I laughed, I cried, I got MAD, I cried and laughed some more.  Talk about an emotional ROLLER-COASTER!! Jenn had the right idea when she said, “Breaking Dawn 2 rocked my face off! First I was all !!!!! and then I was all !!!!!! And finally I was all !!!!.”   I mean seriously, after the movie I needed my after sex smoke.

I was really happy to know that the director for Breaking Dawn Part 1 would be directing  Part 2.  With the new Vampire Clans finally being introduced in this movie, I felt the director did an amazing job portraying their special talents on screen and keeping it from being cheesy.  Bella’s “shield” must have proved a challenge and they came through with flying colors!  I do wish I could have seen Renesmee’s talent, though.  The location was as beautiful as ever (Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Vancouver, British Colombia), with the breathtaking green forest that makes you wish you could run through the forest and pretend you’re Bella or Edward, to the wild and beautiful mountains and fields covered in snow! (I love the snow).

Before I can continue I must talk about the ending!  WHAT AN ENDING!!! Between director Bill Condon and screen writer Melissa Rosenberg, my hat is off to the both of you!!  Not only did you have all the die-hard twi-hards cursing your name but you also had those very same twi-hards praising your name.  I admit, I gasped very loudly when Carlisle’s head came off (as a matter of fact, the whole theatre did). Then all Hades broke loose! As the fight progressed I found myself sitting on the edge of my seat (literally) getting madder and madder by the minute (no really, my blood pleasure was rising).  By the time Leah Clearwater died by saving Esme, I wanted to walk out of the theater. I felt that at that moment the whole Twilight Saga was ruined and the movie went from a 5 star to a 1 star.

When Aro took his hand out of Alice’s hand and the sigh of relief that flooded the theatre was very LOUD!!!  At that moment I wanted to cry with relief!!  That is how caught up in the movie I was.  I knew they had changed the ending of the movie from the book and I understand why they wanted to, really the ending in the book was perfect but it was perfect for a BOOK not a MOVIE.

There are several small scenes that stick out to me the most:

Number 4: The introduction of the  Romanians!  Buuuaaahahahahha!! What a great way to add them to the group.  They totally just snubbed their noses at the wolves and weren’t even fazed by them.

Number 3: When Bella found out that Jacob imprinted on Renesmee.  Brilliant scrip writing people, let me tell you!!  I still get the giggles thinking about Bella beating the crap out of Jacob and Jacob just taking it, all the while the Cullen family is just watching.  Esme’s all like “Umm shouldn’t someone stop her” and Edward is like “No, she is just magnificent!  Hysterical!!

Number 2: Jacob telling Charlie about what Jacob is!  First off I must say, Taylor must have watched a lot of underwear commercials to get those moves just right! HAHA you can’t tell me you didn’t think he was filming a Fruit-A-Loom commercial during that scene! And Charlie’s reaction was just great!! (asking Bella – “you’re not going to turn into an animal are you”) He really did have that “wild-eyed” look about him that was perfect for that scene.

Number 1: During the fight scene when Alice and Bella got Jane as she was trying to run away and dragged her to Sam!  Yup, I thought it: Jane is finally getting what she deserves.  Because of these little scenes that really have no overall effect of the entire movie they really did it for me.  Just by these scenes alone you can see how well the cast worked together.  How wonderful the script was. And how much this film franchise and these actors have really and truly grown.

The Twilight Saga is over and I’m both happy and sad at the same time (sniffle).  This movie has ranked #3 for opening night box office profits ever made and for the first weekend topping out at over $162,000,000 nationally!  I so can’t wait to see this movie in the theatre again!!  This movie was everything I hoped for and more!!

Memorable Quote

(Bella hits Jacob, and he goes flying into a tree) Esme: “Is someone going to stop her?” Edward: “(scoff) No, Isn’t she beautiful?”  Bella (to Jacob): “You nicknamed my daughter after the Loch Ness Monster?!” (Bella hits Jacob again).

The earliest movie Kristina can remember watching is “The Neverending Story”. It was all downhill from there. She then watched any movie she could from old black-n-white, classic musicals to the current movies coming out. While other kids were outside playing, Kristina could be found watching movies over and over and over again, experiencing new things each time she watched them, memorizing lines and acting out the scenes. She loves everything about them from the directing, set & costume design, acting and foundtrack/film score. Her favorite genres are B-movies, British films and other foreign films.

I am going to see it this week with my stepmom so I will see how I feel. I have to be honest—I hated the last book and it kind of ruined the series for me. However, I think I might like the movie version better of the last book or at least I am hoping. I finally saw Part 1 over the last week and it wasn’t as bad as I thought (still extremely slow) but his imprinting didn’t freak me out as much as it did in the book. I am thrilled you enjoyed it though, it means my stepmom will love it too. She adored the books!

Another spot-on review by Kriss, I couldn’t agree more with her; right down to going straight out to the parking lot to have an after-twilight smoke!\nI saw it during the day of Friday, so the theater was all adults. My favorite part was when a grown man yelled at screen “I have too much emotionally invested in this, don’t do this to me!!”\nYup.
