I’m not a big resolutions girl, but I do have goals for the blog I’d like to accomplish in 2013. Nothing crazy, I’m not big into monetizing this site, and I honestly don’t look at traffic that much, because I’m really lazy and I don’t want this to feel like a second job. My first job is crazy enough! That said, here are my “resolutions”:
Write More Reviews
I got lazy this year and there are a few books I read and never wrote reviews for. I’ve always prided myself on reviewing every single book I read, but it kind of snowballed on me, and the months passed. Reviews mean content and content means you have something to read here. I’m just Team Lazy. 🙂
Read More Books
My goal was to read 100 books this year. I felt it was kind of lofty, considering I only read 56 or so last year. I have come close to my goal, and I’m currently on book 88, but I won’t reach 100. I also thought 100 was a lot! But my best friend reads over 250 per year, and I know one blogger who read over 500! How do you people have that kind of time???
Next year, I’m sticking with my 100 books for the year goal and seeing if I can really make it!
Comment At Your Blogs More
This is my biggest downfall. I mean to come by, I see your posts in my reader and I do read your reviews, but then I forget to post….usually because I’m reading your posts late at night on my iPad or phone and I hate commenting from my devices. I like to use keyboards for my actual thoughtful comments. By the time I’m at my computer again, I’ve forgotten that I need to comment. So in 2013, I WILL comment more!
Listen To More Audiobooks (and Get To the Gym)
I joined in a challenge for this, hosted by The Book Nympho and Hot Listens, because I don’t listen to enough audios and I think I’m missing out. I needed something to force my hand. I also need to get to the gym, but my excuse is that staying late at work to go to the gym (it’s on campus) cuts into my reading time. No more! This challenge will solve both problems.
Read More Indies
After this year’s many fiascos, most involving indie authors, one would think I would be skirting away from indies, but I’ve actually had the really good fortune of great interaction with indie and small pub authors when working with them for our Indie Author Excerpts feature. I’ve read several indie titles in 2012, but I want to expand on that and give them the publicity they deserve.
So these are my resolutions and I’m going to try my damnedest to stick with them. I hope you all have had a wonderful Christmas (or whatever you choose to celebrate!) and a safe and happy New Year! This post has been prescheduled, but as it goes live when the ball drops, you can guarantee, I will be three sheets to the wind and maybe drunk-tweeting how much I love you.
What are your resolutions and goals for the new year?
