21 Books I Haven’t Read That Are Now Movies I Haven’t Seen

First, let me start this off by saying – PLEASE DON’T HATE ME.  I am not a movie person, AT ALL.  But I have no excuse for the books, other than time. Sometimes I feel like the worst reader ever.  Hollywood is out there makin’ all kinds of movies from books these days and I haven’t read or seen even half of them.  Some of them I had never even heard of until they began making the movie! So without further adieu, here are 21 popular books-to-movies I’ve never read or seen.  *stressfully grips bookworm card*

The Book Thief

50 Shades of Grey

Seabiscuit

The Help

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants

The Horse Whisperer

Into the Wild

World War Z (okay I saw about half of it and I tried to listen to the audio, but no dice)

The Count of Monte Cristo

Bridget Jones

My Sister’s Keeper

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

 Pride & Prejudice

Emma

Angels and Demons

Eragon

I, Robot

Narnia

Planet of the Apes

Basically every Stephen King book/movie ever made, except for IT (which, PS, gave me nightmares because I don’t like clowns)

This list obviously isn’t exhaustive.  There are many more.  But when I set out to make this post, I realized I could be writing titles for days before making a dent, so here is my short list.

How many have you not read and seen from this list?

Jennifer became addicted to books when she randomly picked up a Sweet Valley High book in grade school. She never looked back. After blowing through the SVH and SVU series faster than her parents could put them in her hands, she began perusing her stepfather's bookshelves and reading fantasy like Piers Anthony's Incarnations of Immortality series, which she still maintains is some of the best fantasy ever. She collects books like the Duggar family collects kids and began waiting for her Hogwarts letter at the tender age of 33.

  1. I’ve only read 7 from your list, unless we get technical on the Stephen King – I’m a complete fangirl and have read and re-read his stuff. I’ve seen 15 of these movies. I looooooove movies, but I am a firm believer that the book is better, every single time.

  2. You made me laugh because I saw IT and I have never read a Stephen King book because of it. It was traumatic to say the least. I have seen a lot of the movies, but not read a lot of the books. The exception is The Book Thief, which is one of my favorite books of all time. Listen to the audio, it was amazing!

    • I’m not even sure if I finished IT. I don’t remember how it ends, but I don’t like clowns in general and was not thrilled when my college boyfriend made me watch it with him. :|\n\nI need to read and see the Book Thief. I’m mostly scared it’s going to bore me though. 🙁

  3. I haven’t read or seen a lot of these too. I’ve seen Seabiscuit and didn’t really care for it. Most of the others that I’ve seen and haven’t read is because they came out before I was reading a lot. I have a really hard time going back and reading a book after I’ve seen the movie. One book that is coming out in theaters that I would highly recommend is The Martian by Andy Weir. The audiobook was amazing. It is not a book that I would’ve picked up if it hadn’t been a 5 star review by some of my most trusted review buddies. I’m really glad they convinced me to pick it up. I can’t recommend it enough.
