OwlCrate Delivery Day has become one of my most anticipated days of the month. I love unboxing these things! In case you aren’t familiar with it, OwlCrate is a monthly subscription box that contains a YA book, along with 3-5 other goodies that go along with that particular month’s theme. March’s theme was “Writer’s Block”, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. What I got was my favorite box to date! As always, an adorable post card welcomes you to the box (if you look closely, last month’s book makes an appearance!), and on the flip side, it describes everything that is included. First glimpse…adorable socks! And I loved them even more once I opened the package. They are Banned Book Socks from Out of Print and retail for $10. LOVE. Next up is 642 Tiny Things to Write About from Chronicle Books. This looks like a lot of fun, and it’s small enough to carry in a purse. Some of the ideas are serious, and some are silly. I’m definitely going to try and complete it throughout the year. This retails for around $10, but you can get it for $6.62 on Amazon. And what notebook would be complete with a fun new pen to write with? I feel like a true Gryffindor writing with this quill pen from Kikkerland. This retails for $2.50. I was really excited when I heard that there would be an item from Bookworm Boutique included in the box, because I have been eyeing their stuff for ages, and dying to get my hands on some of it. They created this custom pack of pins exclusively for OwlCrate, which is very cool. No guess as to retail value since these are an exclusive item. And, the main event…this month’s book! The March selection is The Serpent King by Jeff Zentner. I had never heard of this one, but it sounds great! I can’t wait to read it. After two books that I didn’t love, I think OwlCrate may have hit a home run for me. Also included was a note from the author and a postcard with a quote from the book. I loved everything in this box, and I think it was definitely a good value. I’m already looking forward to next month, when the theme will be Dystopia. Until then, I will get busy reading (and reviewing, of course!). Disclaimer: I purchased this subscription box on my own and did not receive any compensation for my opinion.
