Tempted in the Tropics Blog Tour: Tracy March’s Top Ten

Posted on 09/26/2013 in Guest Post / 1 Comment

Welcome to the Tempted in the Tropics blog tour! I had a special reason for wanting to be on this blog tour: I’m getting married, and we’re running away to do it in the tropics! Exciting, yeah?! I also really liked Tracy’s other novel, The Practice Proposal.  Today, Tracy joins us to discuss the top ten things about being an author she wishes she knew before she became an author!

\r\n\r\n

Ten Things I Wish I Knew About Being an Author That I Didn’t Know Before

\r\n\r\n

\r\n

~ I wish I would’ve known how much Diet Coke I was going to drink (for inspiration and caffeine) over the last nine years I’ve been writing. I definitely would’ve bought stock in Coca-Cola!

\r\n

I wish I would’ve known that the reading time that inspired me to become a writer would become severely limited. Now when I have time to relax and read an awesome book, it’s an extra-special treat.

\r\n

~ I wish I would’ve known how badly I’d want to visit all kinds of exotic places to research settings for my stories. I would’ve started a travel fund when I was, oh, say, three years old!

\r\n

~ I wish I would’ve known early on how many fabulous authors are out there who graciously share their expertise and mentor aspiring writers. I’m amazed at the sense of community among authors, and honored to be a part of it.

\r\n

~ I wish I would’ve known not to cry the first time I saw one of my books on the shelf (cover out!) at Barnes & Noble because my husband snapped my picture, tears and all. He still has it as the wallpaper on his iPhone. Isn’t he precious?

\r\n

~ I wish I would’ve known how many Reduced-Fat Cheez-Its I was going to eat over the last nine years I’ve been writing. I definitely would’ve bought some stock in Sunshine/Kellogg’s, and I certainly would’ve worked out more.

\r\n

~ And speaking of working out more, I wish I would’ve known how much I was going to sit…writing, editing, marketing. I would’ve gotten a treadmill desk much sooner. Thanks to my husband for giving me one for my birthday this year!

\r\n

~ I wish I would’ve known how much I could’ve used some talent and/or education in graphic arts. I’d love to design pretty promotional items myself.

\r\n

~ I wish I would’ve known that the super-sexy pro baseball player I dedicated The Practice Proposal to was going to tweet me about it…twice. I might not have nearly hyperventilated!

\r\n

~ I wish I would’ve known that being an author is a lot like being in a marriage. There are good days and bad, better and worse, richer and poorer. But the highs far outweigh the lows, and given the choice, I couldn’t imagine myself in any other career. In my case, it’s easy to love the one I’m with!

The only thing they agree on is the sultry heat between them

\r\n

Nothing’s more important to Paige Ellerbee than her struggling bakery, Sweet Bee’s. When Lane Anderson, the temporary new doctor hot enough to rival McDreamy, moves in next door, though, she’s sure things are looking up. Until he threatens her business in their first conversation.

\r\n

Lane just wants to practice medicine responsibly—not argue with the flighty bakery owner next door. But when he finds himself traveling down to the Caribbean to play guitar for Paige’s best friend’s wedding, suddenly the sight of the blonde in a bikini eclipses the fact they can’t agree on anything. And as their vacation romance grows, his reservations about starting something after getting burned by love are washed away like sand on the beach.

\r\n

But once Paige and Lane land back home, will these polar opposites be able to forgive their feud and find lasting love?

Jennifer became addicted to books when she randomly picked up a Sweet Valley High book in grade school. She never looked back. After blowing through the SVH and SVU series faster than her parents could put them in her hands, she began perusing her stepfather's bookshelves and reading fantasy like Piers Anthony's Incarnations of Immortality series, which she still maintains is some of the best fantasy ever. She collects books like the Duggar family collects kids and began waiting for her Hogwarts letter at the tender age of 33.
