Subscription Box Review: OwlCrate

Posted on 09/09/2016 in Discussion / 1 Comment

I get so, so excited when I see my OwlCrate box in my mailbox. The theme for August was “Fast Times at YA High”, and I just knew it was going to be awesome. In case you haven’t tried it yet, OwlCrate features a new YA novel along with 3-5 other bookish goodies, and each month has a theme. The cost is $29.99 (+ shipping), but if you’re a book nerd like me, it’s awesome and totally addicting. If you read yesterday’s article about the August Uppercase Box, you know that for the past two months, both boxes have contained duplicate books, and I was anxious to see what this month would hold.\r\n\r\n

I love all the details in the post cards that introduce the box!
\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nThe first item is an OwlCrate exclusive…an Eleanor & Park necklace! I loved Eleanor & Park, and this necklace is really cute, especially the cassette tape! I can’t get enough of bookish-themed jewelry.\r\n\r\nimg_2159\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nThe next item was an automatic win because it’s Harry Potter – a print of the Golden Trio by Susanne Draws. This will definitely be hung in my office at home.\r\n\r\nimg_2151\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nDouble Harry Potter goodness – a button designed by Taryn Draws! How cute is this?! I love it. And a Chapter Raptor button that is super cool, too.\r\n\r\nimg_2155\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nThe other items included a “Decomposition Notebook”, an adult coloring book, and some colored pencils. Confession time: I haven’t gotten into the whole adult coloring craze. There are some beautiful coloring books that I have drooled over, but then I remember that if I have spare time, I’m going to spend it reading, or possibly watching something from my DVR, which is so full that it could explode at any moment (probably because I always choose reading).\r\n\r\nimg_2160\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nNow, the moment of truth…the book! My heart sank a little when I realized that for the third month in a row, I was getting a duplicate. The August OwlCrate book was also P.S. I Like You by Kasie West. I had sworn that if I got another duplicate, I was going to make a decision and cancel one of the boxes. But…I’m so addicted that I wasn’t able to pull the plug on either of them yet, especially since I liked most of the extras that came in both boxes this month. We’ll see what September holds, and if it IS another duplicate, I will definitely have to decide between the two. In the meantime, I’m going to read this book and we’ll have a fun giveaway with my extra copy!\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nps-i-like-you\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nThe September theme for OwlCrate is Darkness. I can’t wait to see what it holds!\r\n\r\nimg_2161\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nDisclaimer: I am in no way compensated for my subscription box reviews. I purchase the boxes and am not affiliated with the companies (other than being a big, big fan).
